Lil Ruse
From whispered thoughts in the booth to sharp verses hitting like sermons, this piece channels the raw energy of Lil Ruse's lyrical justice.
Working with Lil Ruse on Plastic Crownz meant creating an environment stripped of noise — physically and creatively. We designed the vocal booth as a space of honesty, capturing nuances in every breath, pause, and punchline.
RECORDING ENGINEER
Capturing Lil Ruse's performance required more than just hitting record. Our engineer focused on mic placement, room dynamics, and vocal tone, ensuring that every syllable — even the whispers and pauses — came through with clarity and intention.
MIXING ENGINEER
The mix was shaped to amplify message over embellishment. Low mids were emphasized for vocal presence, while the instrumental was kept sparse and atmospheric. Reverb and delay were used sparingly — the goal was intimacy, not grandeur.
VOCAL EDITING
Editing was surgical but respectful. We preserved imperfections that added character while aligning timing and phrasing subtly. Every breath, rasp, and tonal shift was treated like part of the rhythm section.
VOCAL DIRECTION
In the booth, we created space for Kendrick to experiment — giving notes only when necessary. The direction was emotional, not technical: focusing on delivery, pacing, and when to hold back versus push forward. Every take built on the last until the message was undeniable.
